The Location

Crosley Court forms part of Sunningdale Park, a major residential redevelopment in Sunningdale, Berkshire. Developed within Berkeley Homes’ part of the wider estate, Crosley Court forms part of a residential scheme set within the historic Sunningdale Park grounds.

The Project

Following previous successful automated gate installations and remedial works for Berkeley Homes, SCCI Alphatrack was invited to tender for the design, manufacture and installation of a pair of automated vehicle gates at Crosley Court.

The project built on an existing relationship with Berkeley Homes, which included the previous installation of an automated tracked sliding gate elsewhere on the same development.

Following initial site assessment, SCCI Alphatrack prepared preliminary drawings and a provisional quotation for review. Once the proposal had progressed through Berkeley Homes’ approval process, detailed site measurements were taken and final drawings prepared for sign-off ahead of manufacture.

Design and Coordination

The project required close coordination with multiple teams working across the development.

SCCI Alphatrack worked alongside the design department, construction management team, site supervisors, groundworkers and electrical contractors to ensure the infrastructure required for the gates and automation system was correctly prepared ahead of installation.

Groundworks, ducting and associated preparation were checked and verified before the manufactured gates and automation equipment were delivered to site.

Installation

Installation was completed in stages, beginning with the control enclosure, posts and associated cabling. The gates were then installed, aligned and prepared for the automation equipment.

Once the gates were correctly positioned and operating conditions verified, the automation system and associated safety equipment were installed.

Safety formed an important part of the commissioning process. The installation engineer reviewed the gate safety risk assessment to confirm that the planned safety systems met the relevant requirements before final connections and commissioning took place.

Testing and Handover

Following installation, the complete system was commissioned and tested.

Operating parameters were configured electronically, safety systems were individually tested and the gates underwent full force testing.

SCCI Alphatrack subsequently prepared the system’s operation and maintenance documentation, including the required technical information and force-test results. The completed installation was CE marked and a Certificate of Conformity issued.

The automated gates were then handed over to Berkeley Homes as a fully commissioned, tested and operational turnkey system.
