Work has begun on full fibre deployment using 4Fibre in the borough of Islington

Works have started at Kestrel and Peregrine House where residents are shortly to be provided with improved access to full fibre broadband.

At 27 stories (80m) Peregrine House is one of the two tallest towers owned by Islington Council. Adjacent to that is Kestrel House at 18 stories (55m) – both on the City Road estate.

4Fibre have teamed up with Islington Council & have begun installing the main cables and equipment in communal areas of Kestrel and Peregrine House.

The 4Fibre solution provides access to multiple (4) independent full fibre internet service providers – but over a single fibre infrastructure, meaning the block only needs to be wired once.

Following the installation (which is expected to be completed by mid-February) residents will be provided with access to Gigabit broadband.

The use of fibre-optic cables will future proof the building – and provide ultrafast and ultra-reliable internet speeds.

Once complete – 4Fibre will be rolled out to buildings across the borough, where a single installation of multiple providers is thought preferable.

This deployment is part of a wider programme – providing improved connectivity to the residents of Islington.
